There's a new kid (sale) on the block this year! Lilly announced they'd be having 'The Dressed for Summer Sale' starting tomorrow 6/29 at 8AMish - 6/30 at midight EST.
It's my understanding that this sale will include pieces from the spring collection and older. Nothing currently on the website will be included in the sale. Lilly said they will be adding more items throughout the sale, and to watch their Instagram for updates! This sale is ONLINE ONLY and corporate stores will not be participating, but some signature stores (aka not owned by Lilly) will be.
how it works:
As soon as 8AM EST hits the sale starts. Some people (the first to click) will gain access to the sale immediately and the rest will be put into a virtual line. Lilly only allows so many people access to the website at a time to prevent it from crashing like it has many times in years past. I've had to wait as long as 45 minutes in the past or as short as 2!

why is it such a big deal?
Typically, nothing ever goes on sale on Lilly's website (although recently we've been living in unprecedented times resulting in more Lilly sales than ever before.) You can find items on sale every once in a while in stores, but that's about it. Normally Lilly's two big sales are at the end of August and early January, and the discounts are huge.
tips and tricks:
I've noticed that accessories, old gifts with purchase, and printed popovers sell out FAST - probably because they're the lowest price point and just about everyone can wear them well.
If the surprise sale is sold out of something you wanted check the signature store websites (example: ocean palm.net) . Typically even 6pm.com, Zappos.com, and other websites will join in on the fun and offer some discounts as well.
Browse through popular styles on the website and read the reviews - that way when the sale starts you won't be trying to figure out what the fabric is, what size to buy, etc.
Have your credit card information saved prior to the sale starting to save some extra time - make sure you do it the day before though, because they shut down the website several hours in advance of the sale.
It may take longer for your item(s) to arrive, but shipping is free with a $25 purchase and it's worth the wait! Last year they said it could take up to three weeks, and I received by item on the very last day of that time frame.
