Lilly for Target

I, like so many others, waited up all night on April 18th for the Lilly for Target collection to launch online. I was religiously flipping between Twitter, Instagram, and Target.com for any news about the launch. Around 12:30PM I started seeing tweets with links to certain items from the collection - my first thought was that Target's website was slowly adding the items to their website, but later learned these were 'sneaky' mobile links that were not supposed to be active yet. I did manage to get a few dresses through those links, but they were shut-down before I could grab much more.

Then the great wait began... with my laptop, desktop, and phone all at the ready I waited for the collection to go live while reading both comical and informative tweets (Target's President was sending out estimated launch times). Once the collection finally launched online around 3:15AM I was able to add a few items to my backet, but was never able to checkout. I waited up until around 4:15AM until I gave up and went to sleep.

I woke up a whole hour and 45 minutes later to go wait in line at my local Target. I pulled into the parking lot around 7:03AM and there was a mom and daughter in line. While I was parking two other women started walking towards the line, so I reluctantly got out of the car and waited...

They let us into the store at 8AM on the dot (I was fifth in line) and these women RAN. I was so appalled, and absolutely refused to run through a store like a crazy person. I followed the crazy women (some of whom stopped for a cart - I only had time to grab a basket) straight to the clothing. I had my eye on the Upstream Shift and managed to grab both one for my mom and one for myself. The rest was a blur. I remember it being dead silent while women were grabbing things off the racks and running for bags/scarves across the aisle. I barely saw half of the clothing items that were available, because after I had the shifts I wanted and saw that the crochet tank was long goneI started making my way towards the home goods. 

At this point it's 8:03AM and on my way towards the back of the store I pass the rack the purses were on, the rack the scarves were gone, and the rack the beauty products were on and they are all EMPTY. Literally not a thing left. Luckily I made it to the back before most and was able to snatch up towels, a pillow, and a beach chair (keep in mind I only have a basket), so one of the employees was nice enough to ask if I needed a cart and went and brought multiple to the back of the store for me and the crazies.

Legitimately everything Lilly was in someone's cart at this point (8:05AM) . Nothing was left on the shelves/racks/displays and s group of 4 women who had been right behind me in line were huddled in the corner with carts piled as high as their heads with the coveted items. It appeared these women had split up and grabbed anything/everything they could from their designated section and were now trading between themselves. The rest of us stood close by and waited for any 'rejected' items (I managed to grab a hair tie set and pink nail polish). Meanwhile near the dressing rooms a random woman  was auctioning off other's rejected items. Literally standing up on a bench/chair yelling, "Upstream Shift! Size 6! Who wants it?!" and then would immediately be lost in a sea of arms trying to grab the aforementioned item. I was doing laps around the store to see if any other items had been discarded, and occasionally stopped to talk to people who had come a little too late and were wondering where everything was and/or people who were rude enough to try and grab something out of my cart and try to convince me I didn't need it. Let me make it clear at this moment that I only bought what I needed + a few shifts for my mom who was at church. I did not buy anything to sell, and mistakingly was trying to be $$ conscious, and didn't grab everything I wanted (which has resulted in me driving to two different Targets just about every day for the last week looking for a pillow for my dad and plates for my mom.

It hasn't been warm enough yet to wear any of my clothing purchases yet (or any of my real Lilly purchases from spring break for that matter), but that hasn't stopped my from trying them on every day - I'm in love!. I'm also beyond lucky I guessed the sizing correctly on this collection. Everyone in line was guessing it would run large (Target sizing), but I was pretty confident it would fit like Lilly's recent collections - small.

It's legitimately insane.

I probably stopped at least 2 Target stores per day every day last week, and on one occasion an employee told me a story that legitimately mad me laugh out loud. 

Apparently a lady purchased one of the dresses in the April 19th madness, went home and tried it on, and noticed that the Target 'bullet' that's hidden in the design (pictured above)  landed exactly on her crotch. She was absolutely appalled and promptly returned all $300 worth of merchandise she had purchased (including a scarf that I was able to snatch up). I'm sure Target did not intentionally position their logo in that area of the dress, and thought it was an odd thing to get so upset about when that's not something you can really spot unless you're looking for it!

The mugs *sigh* they make me so happy - I didn't realize I needed these until I was standing in line at Target and my mom texted me that these would be adorable for my apartment....the apartment that I don't have (I live at home). However, I whole heatedly agreed and snatched them up!
