Meet "Riley Matthews"

I'm sure by now you've all heard that there is going to be a spin-off show of Boy Meets World called Girl Meets World starring the original Cory and Topanga (Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel).  I believe the show is going to be on Disney Channel, and today they announced who will be playing Cory and Topanga's daughter.....

Meet Rowan Blanchard a.k.a. Riley Matthews

Rowan/Riley will be the star of the show (to new viewers at least....us 20-somethings will of course be watching to see the original characters back in action), and in the show she will have a Shawn Hunter-esq friend named Maya.  Furthermore, in an interesting twist Cory will be a 7th grade science teacher, following in the footsteps of the beloved Mr. Feeny.

While the other Boy Meets World characters (Shawn, Feeny, Eric, ect...) are not casted in the show Danielle Fishel and Ben Savage have both hinted that there is a definite possibility of numerous Boy Meets World characters making appearance on Girl Meets World.

Filming for the pilot is set to begin next month - will you watch if/when it becomes a reality?

Throw(way)back Thursday

I thought I'd have some fun and post some pictures from back in the day in honor of Throwback Thursday - I think I'm ages 4-7 in most of these pictures.

I Instagramed this one today - it's one of my favorites.

Me with my three best friends growing up - Marisa, Jennifer, Ariel, and I

Fun Fact: Jennifer, Ariel, and I were each born exactly a month and a half apart (Jennifer = June 1st, Ariel = July 15, Me = August 30)....Marisa was a year older.

Jennifer and I did everything together growing up. If I remember correctly this is from our first day of Preschool (we have play-dough in our hands).

Ariel moved away so it was just the three of us in this first day of school picture (check out those shiny, white Keds).

If you participated in #tbt link to it so I can see!

Flashback - American Girl Dolls

A few of my little swimmers got American Girl dolls for Christmas, and they were receiving dolls I had never heard of. So I decided to do a little investigating and see what all is on the American Girl website now-a-days.

First major change I noticed was some of the historical character dolls have been "archived".  I don't know if that means they are temporarily unavailable (like when Disney takes their movies out of the "Disney Vault") or if they will never be on sale again, but as of right now you cannot buy Felicity, Kirsten, and Samantha :(

Samantha was one of the dolls I had, so I fond this to be somewhat heartbreaking.

These are the current historical characters available for purchase. They have added quite a few new dolls since when I played with them back in the late 90s early 2000s.

Here are the doll biographies from the American Girl website (all of the images in this post are screenshots from their website).

Kaya is a member of the Nez Perce in 1764.

Caroline lives during the War of 1812 and has to help support her family and rescue her dad after he is captured!

Marie-Grace and Cecile become friends in New Orleans in 1853 while a sickness is spreading through the city.

Rebecca is an immigrant in 1914 who is trying to integrate her family's traditions and customs while also adopting new traditions in America.

Julie is from 1974 and is going through major life changes.

So what do you think? I like that they have added new dolls to represent different periods of time, but I also wish they had kept the "archived" historical characters.

Back in the day I had Molly, Samantha, and Kit - did you have any American Girl dolls?

Halloween's Past

I ran across some old Halloween pictures on my mom's facebook the other day. I wish there had been more, because I had some pretty sweet costumes (Dorothy anyone?) But these were fun to look at nonetheless.

My next-door neighbor Jennifer (aka Barney) and I when we were 4/5ish? I was Alice in Wonderland.

I wore this costume probably three years in a row. I loooveeed my Ohio State cheerleader outfit. However, let's look at the rest of the group... my friend Marisa was Chuckie Finster from Rugrats. She always had the best costumes, one year she was a Beanie Baby with a red tag hanging from her head and all. Jennifer was an angel and my little brother, Andrew, was batman - he was so sad when he grew out of that costume.

This year (tonight) I will not be dressing up or going out because I am not a huge fan of Halloween, but have a fun and safe Halloween for all of you who are!

Little Brother's Prom

In the midst of my studying for finals my younger brother had prom!
My parents sent me some pictures and I thought I would share :)
He had his wisdom teeth out last weekend so that's why his cheeks are all puffy.

Andrew and Ashlynn - he's a junior and she's a freshman....they're both on the swim team (like I was) and adorable.

Andrew's little smirk face

My prom 2 years ago

LOVED my nails and that I got to wear my mom's Yurman ring.  She never wears it but refuses to give it to me until after college because she doesn't want me to lose it.....and of course I never would.  (I'm the second hand on the right)

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone!

Here's a flashback to Easter a long time ago.
My mom is so embarrassed that she made my poor little brother wear this.....talbots kids at its best :)

Enjoy your day and take a minute to remember what Easter is really about

Mark 16:6 And he said to them, "Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him.

John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him.
