The Limited: Scandal

When Blair Waldorf's television reign ended in 2012 I found myself searching for a new show to fulfill my fashion cravings the way Gossip Girl did. Thankfully, it didn't take long for me to stumble across Emily Thorne on Revenge and Olivia Pope on Scandal. While Blair wore outfits perfect for a night out in the city, a day trip to the Hamptons, and upscale parties I've found that Olivia Pope has a beyond perfect work wardrobe.

Every episode of Scandal features some sort of coat, bag, pantsuit, or dress that makes me drool the entire episode, and I can honestly say I never thought a pantsuit would ever make me drool. Unfortunately, Olivia's clothes are a little out of my price range, which is why I was thrilled to see that The Limited created a Scandal collection!

Some of the items in the collection are exact replicas of pieces Olivia wore in the show (like this cape), while other pieces are just reminiscent of her style.

This dress obviously isn't an exact replica, but if you watch Scandal often you notice that the color scheme, fit, style, and material are all very reminiscent of what she wears on the show.

Have you bought anything from this collection? Is there anything you're eyeing?

Kate Spade Surprise Sale

Well the Kate Spade surprise sale came and went this week, and I was really impressed with some of the items (and prices) they had posted in it.

It was killing me a little inside that this dress was offered in the sale....I wanted it so badly after seeing Annabeth wear it on Heat of Dixie, but just couldn't justify ordering a new dress (especially so close to spring break where there is bound to be some Lilly purchases).

p.s. this dress was also worn on 1600 Penn and and Gossip Girl

I however did purchase the Great Expectations book clutch, which was a steal at $99 (it was originally $325).  I've wanted it since it came out....as you can see from this post, because it was the first book I read in high school (ok...so I never actually finished it, but I downloaded it to my iPad today) and I literally don't go anywhere without a book.

Although I do love it I'm not a huge fan of how they applied the plastic cover - I think they could have done a little better job. I definitely would never pay the full $325 for it, but for $100 the English major in me couldn't resist :)

Saturday Style

I had the TV stuck on E! for a few hours while I was doing homework the other day, and watched about 1,000 commercials for "Chasing the Saturdays"....and I kept thinking about how cute the girl in the middle's dress was (I think her name is Mollie).

Then I realized I knew exactly where her dress was from - Kate Spade of course!

{Kate Spade "Checkered Lorelei Dress" - $378}

I would love to steal Mollie's style right now and order the dress, but I think I may wait and see if it goes on sale - I've never bought anything full price from Kate Spade, because they have the best sales and they occur relatively often.  "Shop It To Me" (a daily e-mail that tells you when and where brands you like are on sale) also features KS quite often...if you want to sign up for their e-mails leave your e-mail address in the comment section and I'll send you an invite.

p.s. How cute would this "hold the phone pendant" look paired with the checkered dress?

Meet "Riley Matthews"

I'm sure by now you've all heard that there is going to be a spin-off show of Boy Meets World called Girl Meets World starring the original Cory and Topanga (Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel).  I believe the show is going to be on Disney Channel, and today they announced who will be playing Cory and Topanga's daughter.....

Meet Rowan Blanchard a.k.a. Riley Matthews

Rowan/Riley will be the star of the show (to new viewers at least....us 20-somethings will of course be watching to see the original characters back in action), and in the show she will have a Shawn Hunter-esq friend named Maya.  Furthermore, in an interesting twist Cory will be a 7th grade science teacher, following in the footsteps of the beloved Mr. Feeny.

While the other Boy Meets World characters (Shawn, Feeny, Eric, ect...) are not casted in the show Danielle Fishel and Ben Savage have both hinted that there is a definite possibility of numerous Boy Meets World characters making appearance on Girl Meets World.

Filming for the pilot is set to begin next month - will you watch if/when it becomes a reality?

xoxo Gossip Girl

Tonight at 8:00 the final episode of Gossip Girl airs on the CW. I have watched Gossip Girl since it started back when I was in high school - and was pleasantly surprised when I realized I was the same "age" as them.  We graduated high school at the same time and started college at the same time (although none of them seemed to last more than a few weeks in college.....).  Despite the similarities in age that's about all we had in common - I only wish I had the wardrobe and lives of "Manhattan's Elite"

Here's a look back at some of my favorite GG outfits....

Will you be tuning in tonight?

(and if the dress on the left isn't looking familiar it's because it's from tonights episode - I read some spoilers and trust me, it's worth tuning into even if you haven't followed the show in a while)

Married to Jonas

Sooooo I'm not sure whether or not I should admit this, but I was a huge Jonas Brothers fan back in the day (okay, okay, it was only like four years ago). So I was really excited to find out that E! was going to do a reality show around Kevin Jonas and his wife Danielle.

Although Kevin was my least favorite of the Jonas Brothers Danielle and him are extremely cute together on the show. I've even found myself liking Kevin more than I used to, but lets face it....he's still not too cute.

Danielle comes off as being very soft spoken, super sweet, and extremely down to earth. She also has worn some extremely cute outfits in the episodes I've seen so far.

Danielle's family seems very funny and down to earth. Her dad will randomly pop into their house for different reasons, and her older sister and her are hilarious together.

Kevin's family has only been in one of the episodes so far, and I wasn't impressed. Mrs. Jonas came off as a kind of stuck up, know it all, while Joe, Nick, and Mr. Jonas spent their time badgering Danielle about when she was going to have a baby - because they don't want  a baby to disrupt their tour.

Danielle and her sister Dina took their 18-year-old sister prom dress shopping in the latest episode. It was a very cute scene, and I personally enjoyed watching some wholesome, normal sisterly interaction for once as opposed to what we usually see from shows like the Kardashians.

Have you tuned into "Married to Jonas" - if not then you should! Even some of my friends that were never fans of the Jo Bros have told me that they love it!

MissAdvised

One of my favorite new shows this summer has been Bravo's MissAdvised. And honestly, it's probably because it's just one big mess - but a different kind of mess than what we are used to when it comes to Bravo. This isn't Real Housewives type drama, this show is just three girls struggling in today's crazy dating world. And despite the fact they are all "relationship experts" - they tend not to follow their own advice which makes for a lot of interesting experiences.

Amy Laurent: Amy is a matchmaker in Greenwich. I find it really interesting to see a matchmaker in the dating scene - I mean they should have it all down, right? Well....Amy doesn't. Half the time when she's on dates she's complaining that she's "breaking her diet" - irritating - or she's telling the guy she's on a date with everything that's wrong with him. But in the last episode she went on a date and broke all of her "dating rules" and had a great time, so maybe we'll see her loosen up a little bit!

Emily Morse: Ohhhhh Emily. This girl is a sex expert who has a radio show called "Sex with Emily" I really was indifferent on my feelings about Emily, because she appeared a little fake in the beginning. However, in a recent episode she went back home to Michigan to visit with her family and while she was home she met up with a guy that she has had a crush on since 5th grade. He's coming out to California to visit her soon, and I'm excited to see what happens between them.

Julia Allison: Julia is a relationship journalist who is a tad bit extremely eccentric, cutesy, girly, and as sweet as can be. She dated John McCain's son for a good amount of time, but is now single and looking for a new man (like the rest of the girls). Julia appears to be really, really desperate for a guy on the show, but hey, aren't we all sometimes? She's a sweetheart and probably my favorite of the girls.

Have you seen this show, what do you think?

One Last Walk Down Wisteria Lane

Last night was the Desperate Housewives series finale, and I am so sad it's over. Over the years I feel like I've really gotten to know the girls of Wisteria Lane, and Sunday nights just aren't going to be the same without them
(despite the fact I am obsessed with GCB).

I loved the way they ended the series last night - all loose ends were tied up, but it was kind of sad to see them all go their separate ways. And did they really have to have the girl moving into Susan's house be hiding something already?? Geez.... never a calm moment on that lane.

Over the years the girls have also had some pretty hott photo shoots.....

Welp, it's all over now - did you watch the series finale last night? What did you think?

Viggle

I was watching the Today Show a few weeks ago and they introduced me to an app called "Viggle" - Viggle allows users to "check in" to television shows, and earn points for every show they watch. You can use the points you earn to get rewards like iTunes, Starbucks, Target, and Best Buy giftcards....

You get more points for featured shows - Revenge, for example, was a featured show on Wednesday and was worth 300 points if you checked into the show.

I know I watch a good amount of television when I'm at school doing homework, reading, etc... for some background noise and have already accumulated a good amount of points, so I thought I would share! What a good way to get some fun, easy rewards.

GCB

The past few Sundays I have found myself really looking forward to GCB. I know there's a bit of controversy surrounding it, but I find it to be cute and funny and as Christian am not offended by it at all. I think this show is going to do really well, and I'm intrigued to see how the story line is going to play out after havingread the book.

I also so an add in a magazine listing the GCB "Ten Commandments" all of which I thought were kind of funny, so I've listed them below....

1. Thou shalt add bling to everything
2. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's husband - unless he's really hot

3. Thou shalt love a "C" cup, unless you fit into a "D" cup
4. Remember the spa day and keep it holy

5. Thou shalt know it's wrong to expose your thong
6. Honor thy manis and pedis

7. Thou shalt not bare false designer labels
8. Thou shalt not wear it if it's under a caret

9.  Thou shalt match the volume of thy hair to the size of thy bag
10. Thou shalt not mess with Texas

What do you all think of GCB?

World's Biggest Cupcake

I love love love Georgetown (D.C.) Cupcakes. I love eating them, I love watching the show, and I love how funny the sisters (and their mom) are. Which is why on monday night when the one-ton cupcake full hour episode was on I could not get enough. I actually stayed up until 1:00 AM just so I could watch it another time that night.

These pictures are all from TLC's website:

The girls are checking out the giant oven they are going to bake the world's biggest cupcake in. I love that they have pink hardhats, pink hunter, pink goggles, pink aprons, and pink packaging - it's like my dream come true to live in a pink, cupcake world. Oh, and Sophie has on the J.Crew vest that I also have in this picture :)

The amount of ingredients they needed to bake this thing was absolutely ridiculous. They had sooo many huge jumbo tubs full of batter to pour into the "pan".

Cupcake in the pan (pre baking).

I think both girls are absolutely adorable, but I love that they don't try to look super cute all the time. They just go about their normal activities, and if they happen get messy or have crazy hair it's not a big deal

They succeeded in making the world's biggest cupcake. It was 2,000+ lbs. and my favorite part is that they used those gigantic jawbreakers for the sprinkles - too cute.

Here She Is...

Last night the 2012 Miss. America Pageant was on. Although I do enjoy watching the big pageants I can never sit through the whole thing, so I found myself switching back and forth between the pageant and the Broncos v. Patriots game.

I thought that Miss. Wisconsin (now Miss. America) Laura Kaeppeler was absolutely stunning, although I did miss the interview portion so I can't speak on her personality or response.

I honestly thought that all mascara was waterproof by now, but apparently the one Laura picked was not - poor girl. Honest mistake, which honestly makes me like her even more. Not everyone is perfect, including Miss. America.

The Lying Game

On Sunday ABC Family was having a marathon of "The Lying Game" and nothing else intriguing was on so I sat down and started watching.....and ended up watching every episode. The Lying Game was created by the same person as Pretty Little Liars (by the way ABC Family think we're spreading the wrong lesson here with the whole lying thing?). It's about twin girls who were given up for adoption right after they were born. One twin (Sutton) ends up with a very wealthy family and the other twin (Emma) ends up in foster care. The girls of course find each other and Emma pretends to be Sutton while the real Sutton goes in search of their birth mother.

As it turns out there are a ridiculous amount of lies, cover-ups, and false leads in regards to who their mother is, so while Sutton searches. Emma starts to fall in love with Sutton's life, family, and boyfriend. Uh oh.

You should check it out. These ABC Family shows are really getting good.

The cast. Sutton and Emma are played by the same actress, Alexandra Chandro (very Parent Trap of her).

Oh la la. Emma is falling in love with Suttons bad boy boyfriend.

The outfits are spectacular.

And so is Sutton's closet. I couldn't find a great picture of it, but it is to DIE for.

And isn't Alexandra gorgeous? As much as I'm loving Pretty Little Liars and The Lying Game (and Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie, ect...)  it does get a little irritating seeing all these fabulously dressed gorgeous girls all the time.

Do you watch The Lying Game? What do you think of it?
